Philosophy, Mission, and Educational Objectives
The Philosophy and Mission of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences (also referred to as "NAMTHS" or "the Academy"), which is located at 1744 Sumneytown Pike, Kulpsville, PA, 19443, is to provide their students with a professional learning experience that encompasses both the medical, as well as the holistic aspects of Massage Therapy & Bodywork, and/or Reflexology.
Each student will be encouraged to work to their own potential and to develop both their hands-on knowledge & skills as well as their professional/business demeanor. Each student will be acknowledged and appreciated for what they contribute to class and clinical experiences. Each student is encouraged to use this program not only for career and professional development, but also as a means to self awareness and personal growth.
The Educational Objectives for both the Massage Therapy Diploma Program and the Reflexology Diploma Program are as follows:
Massage Therapy Diploma Program
1. To prepare students to enter the work world as qualified and technically skilled professional Massage Therapists by imparting both knowledge and hands-on experience to them.
2. To provide a quality education to their students that will ultimately result in the awarding of a Diploma in Massage Therapy.
3. To give students a wide base of knowledge of anatomy & physiology, pathology, massage therapy theory and technique as well as adjunct therapy and modality theory and technique.
4. To prepare students to become a part of an allied health care team.
5. To provide students with a clinical experience that will prepare them to work with the public.
6. To educate students as to the scope of their practice as well as ethical principles of Massage Therapy.
7. To provide a fun, enriching, safe, and non-judgmental supervised atmosphere where the student is free to share personal attitudes, philosophies, and opinions.
Reflexology Diploma Program
1. To prepare students to enter the work world as qualified and technically skilled professional Reflexologists by imparting both knowledge and hands-on experience to them.
2. To provide a quality education to their students that will ultimately result in the awarding of a Diploma in Reflexology.
3. To give students a wide base of knowledge of anatomy & physiology, pathology, business, and reflexology theory and technique.
4. To prepare students to become a part of an allied health care team.
5. To provide students with a clinical experience that will prepare them to work with the public.
6. To educate students as to the scope of their practice as well as ethical principles of Reflexology.
7. To provide a fun, enriching, safe, and non-judgmental supervised atmosphere where the student is free to share personal attitudes, philosophies, and opinions.
Location and Facilities
National Academy of Massage Therapy is located at 1744 Sumneytown Pike, Kulpsville, Pennsylvania in the heart of Montgomery County. They are conveniently located seconds (less than 1/8th mile) away from the Lansdale exit of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-476). They are also a short drive from Routes I-76, 309, 63, 422, 663, 313, 78, and 611. They are just a 30 minute drive to Center City Philadelphia, a one hour drive to the Poconos, and 90 minute drive to the New Jersey shore.
The school, which is near Lansdale, Pennsylvania, is located conveniently close to a variety of restaurants, convenience stores, and the King of Prussia and Montgomeryville shopping malls. The Academy had it's Grand Opening in August 2002 and consists of brand new spacious and fully equipped classrooms, a full student clinic with 5 treatment rooms, a student break area, a library with computer lab, a school store, and administrative offices.
Class Size and Ratios
In an effort to provide the highest quality education to their students, they maintain a very low student/teacher ratio (14:1 for massage/bodywork classes and 20:1 for anatomy and physiology lectures).
Although class size may vary with any given class, they accept no more than 20 students per class. This ensures that each student can receive as much individualized attention as he or she needs.
NAMTHS reserves the right to cancel a class due to inadequate enrollment.
