About Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology

Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology was founded September 27, 1928, by W.G. Skelly, President of Skelly Oil Company. He established Spartan Aircraft Company and formed the corporation that built Tulsa Municipal Airport (now called Tulsa International Airport). Since 1928, this airport has been the home of Spartan. Mr. Skelly was convinced that air transportation would come of age and bring with it a need for skilled aircraft technicians and pilots; therefore, Spartan offered both mechanic and flight courses and quickly became a leader in aviation education.

Spartan's fame spread quickly, first nationally and then internationally. Students came from many states and foreign countries.

During World War II and the Korean War, Spartan trained thousands of pilots and mechanics for the armed forces while continuing to expand in the civil aviation field. Much of the credit for this period of expansion goes to J. Paul Getty, who acquired Spartan from Skelly in 1942.

The ownership of Spartan was maintained by Getty until 1968, when it was purchased by Automation Industries, Inc. Spartan built and occupied its south campus on Pine Street in 1969. In 1971, Spartan became a subsidiary of National Education Corporation. National Education Corporation became a subsidiary of Harcourt General Corporation in 1997.

Spartan has graduated more than 80,000 technicians and pilots. Through the performance of its graduates, it has had a significant influence on world aviation.

What Programs does Spartan offer?

A. Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology offers Avionics Maintenance Technology, Aviation Maintenance Technology, Nondestructive Testing diploma programs, Associate of Applied Science Avionics Maintenance Technology, Aviation Maintenance Technology, Quality Control and Professional Pilot degree programs. Spartan also offers a Bachelor of Science Aviation Management degree program.

What kind of facilities do you have?

A. Spartan has over 240,000 square feet of training facilities on three campuses and located at two Tulsa-area airports.

Do you assist graduates in job placement?

A. Spartan offers ongoing career services to their graduates. Career services include: resume creating, on-campus recruiting visits, and interview skills training. The Career Center also holds two on-campus career fairs each year.

When should I apply for acceptance?

A. Applications for acceptance are reviewed and processed weekly. Once a student determines interest in applying for acceptance they should apply immediately. Applicants must complete an interview process with an Admissions Representative prior to submitting application to the college. Final acceptance is determined by the Admissions Department after reviewing submitted application and all supporting documentation.

Does Spartan offer any scholarships?

A. Thousands of scholarship dollars go unused each year simply because no one applies. Indiana State University is a medium-sized, comprehensive university founded in 1865. About Hallmark College of Technology

Hallmark College of Technology was founded in 1969 as Hallmark-Aero Tech. Richard H. Fessler, co-founder, began the school with the primary purpose of serving students, industry, and the community.

The Federal Aviation Administration certified Hallmark as an Aviation Maintenance Technician School on September 18, 1969, and the doors were opened for eight students. The original campus was located at San Antonio’s historic Stinson Municipal Airport.

Richard H. Fessler became the school’s president in 1974. His leadership and commitment to quality education guided the school through the 70s and 80s with significant accomplishment.
In 1981, their Electronics Program was launched. In 1982, Hallmark received degree-granting approval and became the first private career school in the State of Texas to award an associate degree.

By January 1985, the growth of their school programs made it possible to open a second campus. The Electronics Program was relocated to the northwest corridor of San Antonio at 10401 lH-10 West. In 1988, Business Programs were launched at this new campus.

In 1995, the Aviation Technology Programs were relocated to a new campus at the San Antonio International Airport. At this time, Hallmark Aero-Tech became known as Hallmark Institute of Aeronautics and Hallmark Institute of Technology.

In their continuing quest for excellence in education, Hallmark College strives to meet the current and future demands of business, industry, and the community by continuing to expand and develop their programs. As a result, in 2002 Hallmark College introduced a new degree program in Computer Network Systems Technology and 2003 new degree programs in Medical Assistant and Business Office Administration.

Over the years Hallmark College has earned a reputation for providing quality education and service. Currently, Richard H. Fessler serves as Chairman of Hallmark College and Joe Fisher serves as President. In 2007, the names of the two campuses were changed to Hallmark College of Aeronautics and Hallmark College of Technology. In 2008, the College had approved Microsoft Office seminars and Microsoft Technical seminars, the Medical Assistant Certificate program and the Healthcare Information Specialist (Billing/Coding) Certificate program.

FAA Certification

Certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) involves an agreement between the FAA and the Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) training program provider that shows how the provider will meet the academic and regulatory requirements of the Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR). The criteria approved by the FAA includes curriculum content, training facilities, training equipment, and instructor qualifications. This training leads to examination for federal licensing as an aircraft maintenance technician. This license is required by the FAA to work on all U.S. registered aircraft.

History

Statement of Purpose

Philosophy of Education

Liberty University is a Christian academic community in the tradition of evangelical institutions of higher education. As such, Liberty continues the philosophy of education which first gave rise to the university, summarized in the following propositions. God, the infinite source of all things, has shown us truth through Scripture, nature, history, and, above all, in Christ. Persons are spiritual, rational, moral, social and physical, created in the image of God. They are, therefore, able to know and to value themselves and other persons, the universe and God. Education as the process of teaching and learning involves the whole person, developing the knowledge, values, and skills that enable the individual to change freely. Thus it occurs most effectively when both instructor and student are properly related to God and each other through Christ.

Mission

To develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact tomorrow’s world. The mission is carried out for resident students through a rigorous academic program and structured social environment. It is carried out for external students in a comparable academic program but without the structure of the resident community.

Aims

1. In support of its Philosophy and Mission, Liberty University seeks to develop the whole person by providing its students with intellectual and cultural pursuits that:

2. Contribute to a knowledge and understanding of other cultures and of international events.

3. Promote an understanding of the Western tradition and the diverse elements of American cultural history, especially the importance of the individual in maintaining democratic and free market processes.

4. Foster university level competencies in writing, speaking, reading, appreciation of the arts, analytical reasoning, computer literacy, and research.

5. Enhance graduate level knowledge and skills, particularly in the areas of individual research and scholarship.

6. Convey the different ways of acquiring knowledge in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

7. Enable them to engage in a major field of study built on a solid foundation in the liberal arts.

8. Explore the moral dimensions and ethical implications in the disciplines offered by the University.

9. Assist in developing competence and determination in their approach to their vocation, including encouragement in choosing and following their vocation as a calling to glorify God, fulfilling the Great Commission, and doing the will of God through all of life.

10. Promote the synthesis of academic knowledge and Christian values in order that there might be a maturing of spiritual, intellectual, social and physical behavior.

11. Cultivate a sensitivity to the needs of others and a commitment to the betterment of humanity.

12. Encourage a commitment to the Christian life, one of active communication of the Christian faith, personal integrity, and social responsibility which, as it is lived out, leads people to Jesus Christ as the Lord of the universe and their own personal Savior.

Liberty University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees. Liberty is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.
