Mountain State University Online
Mountain State University offers online courses and degrees via the Blackboard CE and WebCT CE 4 learning management systems. Both programs feature tools that allow students to access course information, communicate with their instructors and other students, take exams, and submit assignments.
Distance learning is education delivered to locations away from the classroom. Distance learning can supplement or replace traditional classroom education through the use of instructional television, computer or Web-based training, and numerous other technologies. Distance learning makes professional development accessible to students who work during traditional classroom hours. Through flexible learning schedules, students can learn at their own pace and at a time and place that is convenient for them. Distance education also makes learning accessible to the disabled and others who are not able or cannot afford to come to a traditional college campus for their education.
Mountain State University History
Mountain State University was founded as Beckley College in 1933. Located in the heart of southern West Virginia, the private, not-for-profit institution began as a junior college in response to the community's desire to provide accessible higher education to its youth. At a time when fewer than 10 percent of high school graduates nationally were attending college, Beckley College opened with 97 students and classrooms rented from a local church.
During its first half century, the college experienced slow but steady increases in enrollment, staff, facilities, and programs. In 1990, five presidents and 57 years later, President Charles H. Polk took on the challenges of leading Beckley College into a new era.
The past two decades have been a time of tremendous change, including the transition from a two-year to a four-year college, then to a master's level institution and, in 2009, to the doctoral level. The campus has grown and degree programs have expanded to include high-demand professional and technology fields as well as the humanities, arts, and sciences. The name Mountain State University was adopted in August 2001.
In addition to traditional classroom-based studies, MSU now serves thousands of students across the country and around the world with a system of branch campuses as well as distance learning, nontraditional credit options, and collaboration with a variety of industry and education partners. Today, as throughout its history, Mountain State University remains committed to its founding vision of fostering opportunities for personal and professional success.

About Grand Canyon University (GCU)
Grand Canyon University (GCU) is Arizona's private university. Based in Phoenix, the regionally accredited, private, non-denominational Christian university offers online and campus-based bachelor’s and master’s degree programs through the Ken Blanchard College of Business, College of Education, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and College of Liberal Arts. The school is ranked as one of the top online education programs by OEDb (Online Education Database) and as one of the top five online colleges for entrepreneurs by Fortune. With a total enrollment of approximately 25,000 students, GCU emphasizes individual attention for both traditional undergraduate students as well as the working professional.
Origin of GCU
Grand Canyon College was born in the wake of World War II as the realization of a dream long held dear by the tiny congregations of Southern Baptists that called the Arizona mission frontier their home. In the fall of 1946, the Baptist General Convention of Arizona voted to organize a college. A few months later, the Convention selected the first trustees for the college, who soon secured an abandoned armory building in Prescott, Arizona, as Grand Canyon’s first campus.
Mission Statement
Grand Canyon University prepares learners to become global citizens, critical thinkers, effective communicators and responsible leaders by providing an academically challenging, values-based curriculum from the context of our Christian heritage.

Arcadia University History
Two centuries ago, little else traveled through the wilderness of westernmost Pennsylvania except for the Ohio and the Beaver Rivers. At their confluence, the French established a trading post. Here members of the Delaware, the Shawnee and the Iroquois tribes would gather to barter and exchange goods with the European traders.
The rivers were essential for travel, for sustenance and for military defense. During the American Revolutionary War, General McIntosh of Washington's Colonial Army built a fort at this place where the Beaver River flowed into the Ohio.
But as the war ended, time passed, and the population expanded, McIntosh's fort became a town: Beaver, Pa. The land was bountiful, but the citizens still hungered for knowledge. In 1853, an intellectual outpost was born - a school to teach such liberal arts as ancient history, rhetoric, logic, analogy.
This school on the Beaver and Ohio Rivers attained collegiate status in 1872 and was named Beaver College. Nonetheless, times change, towns change, even colleges change. In 1925 Beaver College moved east to Jenkintown, Pa., where it attracted more students.
This location afforded larger facilities, a more adequate campus and greater opportunities for development. The change resulted in such an increase in enrollment that the Board of Trustees found it desirable to impose limitations on the annual enrollment in order to maintain the advantages of a small college.
It soon became apparent that additional property would be needed to provide for the expansion of the College. In the autumn of 1928, the Trustees were fortunate in securing a nearby estate located in Glenside, Pa., and known as Grey Towers. With its spacious grounds and stone buildings, it provides a campus of great dignity and beauty. The College operated both the Jenkintown and Glenside campuses into the mid-1960s, when it consolidated all activities onto the Grey Towers property, in Glenside, a suburb of metropolitan Philadelphia.
Originally under the auspices of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Arcadia University now maintains an historic relationship with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), but is independently controlled and ecumenical in spirit.
In the summer of the year 2000, the Board of Trustees approved a historic decision to change the name and status of the school to Arcadia University.
In the past 30 years, Arcadia University has grown significantly from a small undergraduate, liberal arts college serving a traditional-age student body, to a comprehensive university serving more than 3,700 men and women, ages 17 to 77, through part-time and full-time, daytime, and evening, undergraduate and graduate programs. The University also operates one of the largest study abroad programs in the U.S., serving another 3,000 students each year.
Student Body: 3,900 undergraduate and graduate students, both full-time and part-time, including 2,000 full-time undergraduates.
Degrees Offered: B.A., B.F.A., and B.S. in more than 45 fields of study; M.A., M.B.A., M.Ed., M.S., M.P.H. and doctoral graduate degrees.
Student/Faculty Ratio: 13:1
Average Undergraduate Class Size: 16
Faculty: 380 faculty members; 89 percent hold doctorate or terminal degrees in their fields. Courses are taught by faculty members, not teaching assistants.
Accreditation
Arcadia University is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The University is approved for teacher education by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, New Jersey, New York and other states (through reciprocity agreements). The Pennsylvania Supreme Court accepts Arcadia University degrees to register law students. The Forensic Science program has been granted full accreditation from the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission. The University’s undergraduate business program is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Arcadia is a member of the AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the Middle Atlantic Association of Colleges of Business Administration (MAACBA), the American Institute of Graphic Design and the Service Members Opportunity Colleges. No, you get to choose when and where to log in, which allows you to fit your degree program into your busy schedule. The idea that you can go to a graduate institution for free is a persistent misconception. Some students receive small grants and scholarships, but these are relatively rare and almost never cover the full cost of tuition.
Do I qualify for Financial Aid?
You will partner with a Financial Services Advisor to determine whether you can benefit from the various Financial Aid options offered. Financial Aid programs include the Federal Stafford Loan (subsidized and unsubsidized), Graduate PLUS Loans, Private Loans, Veterans Educational Benefits, and Military Tuition Assistance.

About Tiffin
Tiffin is a private, coeducational university located in Tiffin, Ohio, on a small but growing campus that offers students a safe, friendly place to pursue their dreams.
Their vibrant 110-acre campus in north central Ohio features both historic red brick and sandstone buildings that date back to the 1880s as well as newer facilities such as the dynamic Hertzer Technology Center and The Hayes Center for the Arts.
Students have access to some of the best undergraduate, graduate, and degree completion programs and can decide whether to pursue their degree on campus, online, or enjoy a little bit of both. Some of their most popular programs, many of which are nationally recognized, include homeland security/terrorism; sports and recreation management; communication; and business management, to name a few.
Tiffin University also is known for creating innovative partnerships in nearly everything they do: from helping their students gain access to competitive internships to connecting them to professionals in the real world as they enter the job market.
Accreditation
Tiffin University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. They also are accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs. Only one-fourth of all business programs in the United States offer this prestigious level of accreditation.
