University Accreditations

Accrediting organizations set the academic standards by which their member institutions must comply. This quality assurance process is performed by private membership associations. Colorado Technical University has accreditations with the following organizations:

Colorado Technical University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, Illinois 60602-2504). This independent corporation was founded in 1895 and is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.

Applied Science, Computing, Engineering and Technology Education Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science degree programs in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering at the Colorado Springs campus are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Among the most respected accreditation organizations in the U.S., ABET has provided leadership and quality assurance in higher education for over 75 years.

Health Science Accreditation

The Colorado Technical University Surgical Technology Program in Kansas City, Missouri, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of the Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology.

The Associate of Science in Medical Assisting at the Sioux Falls campus is accredited by CAAHEP upon recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board.

CAAHEP is the largest programmatic accreditor in the health sciences field. In collaboration with its Committees on Accreditation, CAAHEP reviews and accredits over 2000 educational programs in twenty (20) health science occupations.

The Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting and the Diploma in Medical Assisting programs at the Kansas City campus are accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES): 777 Leesburg Pike, Suite 314, N. Falls Church, VA 22043 (703) 917-9503.

The Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology (AASRT) program at the Kansas City campus is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, 20 North Wacker Drive, Suite 2850 Chicago, IL 60606-3182 (312) 704-5300

The Associate Degree in Nursing program at the Pueblo campus is approved by the Colorado Board of Nursing.

The Practical Nursing program at the Kansas City campus is approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.

Council for Higher Education Accreditation

Colorado Technical University is a CHEA member and is accredited by a CHEA-recognized accrediting organization.

A national advocate and institutional voice for self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation, CHEA is an association of 3,000 degree-granting colleges and universities and recognizes 60 institutional and programmatic accrediting organizations.

Colorado Department of Higher Education

Colorado Technical University's authorization to award degrees has been granted by the State of Colorado, Department of Higher Education, Colorado Commission on Higher Education.

The mission of the Department of Higher Education is to improve the quality of, ensure the affordability of, and promote access to, post-secondary education for the people of Colorado. In pursuing its mission, the Department of Higher Education will act as an advocate for the students and institutions of post-secondary education and will coordinate and, as needed, regulate the activities of the state’s post-secondary education institutions.

Missouri Department of Higher Education

The Kansas City campus has the approval to operate by Coordinating Board for Higher Education, the Missouri Department of Higher Education.

At the direction of the Coordinating Board for Higher Education, the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) carries out the goals and administrative responsibilities for the state system of higher education, which serves more than 360,000 students through 13 public four-year colleges and universities, 19 public two-year colleges, one public two-year technical college, 25 independent colleges and universities, and 152 proprietary schools.
