Dickinson State University is an outstanding four-year college with a solid academic foundation. Having been accredited since 1946 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central (regional) Accrediting Association, DSU is currently enjoying 10 years’ of full accreditation by the Commission, the maximum awarded to any institution.

The Teacher Education Program was recently reaccredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and both levels of our nursing program, associate and bachelor’s degrees, are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and approved by the North Dakota State Board of Nursing. The Music Program is recognized for its quality through the National Association of the Schools for Music. The Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program is recognized by the National Collegiate Honors Council as being the premier honors program in the nation. These accreditations by national agencies attest to the quality and strength of our over-all academic program at DSU.

Over 75% of Dickinson State University’s faculty have doctorate or terminal degrees with credentials from major universities across the nation. Several of these faculty are nationally known authorities in their fields of study. If you enroll at Dickinson State, you will have the opportunity to study and learn with these highly qualified faculty in classes that generally have twenty or so students in them. Certainly by the time you are a senior, you will know these faculty on a first-name basis as both mentor and friend.

The physical plant of Dickinson State is modern and comfortable to provide you with buildings where living and learning are enhanced. Several major renovation projects (the Student Center, Klinefelter Hall and the Murphy Hall Science Building) are noteworthy for their beauty and practicality. And, several more major projects are planned for the future. Stoxen Library is completely automated and the up-to-date computer facilities provide more student access than larger universities can.

With 50 separate major and 62 minor programs, you will certainly find a course of study that will be just right for you at DSU, a full service university. The final proof of their academic quality is the great placement success our students enjoy after graduating. Dickinson State students are sought after nationwide in their major programs of teacher education, nursing, and business while many of their pre-professional students have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, and dentists after having attended some of the most prestigious graduate schools in the nation.

University Location

Dickinson State is located in Dickinson, North Dakota, a city of 17,000, near the rugged and beautiful North Dakota Badlands and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Outdoor recreational activities including hiking, biking, golfing, hunting, and fishing are located within minutes of campus. Dickinson is located along Interstate 94 and the community is served by commercial bus and air service for easy access.

Degrees

Dickinson State offers Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of University Studies, Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology, and Associate Degrees.
